abby rolled over and saw boss through sleep eyes. she smiled. she liked the idea of being able to wake up and know the other person will be there in the morning. it was like a pleasant surprise each time. abby was still trying to get used to the idea of living with someone else, that wasn't a cat. lola seemed to be adjusting nicely though. she was warming up to boss, to the point where boss could almost pick her up without her screaming and squirming. abby just lay in bed and looked over at boss. he was so peaceful while he slept. she finally rolled the other way to see the clock. it was only seven in the morning. she would have a lot of time to herself still. abby was still suffering from a bad case of insomnia, and had no idea why. she didn't look at it as a bad thing though. this way she could get things done without the distraction of boss. he was so sweet, and abby couldn't always behave while they were home alone like this.
abby knew she was going to regret not snuggling more with boss, but she was going to have to get up soon anyway. she had a couple phone calls to make and had to tend to her small cats needs. abby felt and listened to her feet pit-pat across the floor. she grabbed her cell phone on the way out and did her best not to wake boss up. she also grabbed and blanket and her cat she she went to sit down in her favorite chair next to the window. it had a beautiful view and loved sitting here. abby flopped down in the chair and pulled her blanket over her. the cat purred and layed down on abby's lap as she made her business calls. abby turned her phone on and looked at her messages. one was from annie, and the rest were from people she should have been talking to a couple days ago. abby looked though her e-mails and made a couple phone calls, actually trying to manage this band. she was not used to having a job where she actually had to work. her last job as a bar tender, was a piece of cake in comparison to this. but somehow, abby didn't really mind it. it kept her busy and she got to be with boss as her job. she was still worried that boss was going to get sick of her one day though. because he saw her too much, or she was too needy, or one say he would see all of abby's flaws. she drank too much most of the time. was cranky when she was hung over. got herself lost even when she was sober because she wanders around and forgets how she got there. never has her phone with her. isolates herself. spaces out when people are talking to her. interrupts people while they are talking to her. and there are probably more that she doesn't even know she had.
when abby was done replying to e-mails and text massages and making sure annie was okay. she closed her phone and laied her head back in her chair. she wanted boss to wake up soon, but her phone calls and text messages didn't take her nearly as long as she wanted them too. she rested her hand on her cat and gently pet her. she looked out the window for what seemed like forever. she finally got up and headed into the kitchen. she couldn't even remember the last time she made something in there. so she was going to attempt to make some srambbled eggs for her and boss. she was going to be a nice girlfriend and make him some breakfast in bed as long as he didn't wake up while she was making them. she tired to make as little noise as possible. she remembered the first time she had ever made eggs. she had woken up early and her grandma was already in the kitchen drinking coffee. abby walked over and crawled into her lap and tried to read the news paper with her. after sometime had passed, she asked her grandma to help her make breakfast. abby insistent she wanted to make eggs. and because she didn't like the yoke in fried eggs, she wanted to make them scrambled. her grandma showed her how to crack the eggs, how much milk to put in, how much salt and pepper, and finally showed her the art of mixing it all together. abby tired to make her eggs the same way, but her smaller arms couldn't spin the whisk as fast as her grandmother's. she saw abby was struggling so she showed her how to make the whisk move through the eggs swiftly. when abby was finally done, she poured her eggs into the pan and got out the blue rubber spatula. her grandma stood over abby while she stood on a chair from the kitchen table. when the eggs were ready abby got off the chair and dragged it back to the table. her grandma put the eggs on a plate for her and set it down right in front of her, then preceded to sit down next to her. abby grabbed her fork and dug into them. to abby, they were the best eggs she ever had.
abby looked over at the time ever few second to see if it was going any faster. the eggs were almost done and she was in the process of making toast. theses were about the only things she could make from scratch, if you could count toast. but regardless, this is what she did best. right before the eggs were done, she sprinkled some cheese on top and pulled it off the burner and waited for it to melt. the toast was ready so she quickly divided the four pieces on two different plates and buttered them while they were still hot. she went back to the eggs and tried to divided them up the best she could but somehow they still looked uneven to her. she shrugged and carried the two plates back into the bedroom. she peaked in to make sure boss was still in there before she spoke. "hey baby, it's time to wake up, i have eggs and toast with your name on it." abby smiled as she got on the bed and kissed her boyfriend on the check. she loved the thought that she had a boyfriend to make eggs for. it was a nice at home feeling for her. in fact it dawned in her, she should wouldn't mind doing this a little bit more often.

Moving to New York had meant a lot of changes. New venues, new neighborhoods, a subway station that Boss still didn't completely understand. The biggest change was probably the apartment. Not only because of the obvious improvements from the last place Boss had lived in but also because of the fact that he wasn't living there alone. It was still strange to think that he wasn't going to wake up in a disaster zone of an apartment. Or at least in one where the disaster was entirely his. Boss had never actually lived with anyone he wasn't related to before all this. He'd gone straight from living with his parents to living in his string of tiny apartments. Now there was Abby and her cat to work with. Neither was any sort of struggle for him, there wasn't anyone else on the planet that he would rather be with. He'd always liked Lola, even if the feelings weren't exactly mutual. The cat had always seemed to scream Abby whenever Boos had seen it. Then there was Abby herself. Someone who Boss still couldn't believe he'd managed to get in almost every part of his life. At work, at home, whenever they went out. Abby was right there beside him and Boss wouldn't have it any other way. She was already the person he was dying to be with in the first place, it only made sense to want just the one apartment. Boss didn't buy into that idea of needing his own "man space" or that, if he wasn't careful, he was going to get sick of Abby. Even if that was something he would never fully convince Abby herself of. Boss didn't know if they were doing things quite like the average couple did. It was kind of hard to tell how normal things were for them a lot of the time. You couldn't use the same standards to compare them to the run of the mill couple. No one could say that just because Abby didn't have secret bank accounts and Boss wasn't sleeping with some secretary that they obviously had to be happy. They didn't really fit into any relationship mold out there. There was signings and sponsors and the rest of the actual band itself to think about. Plus probably close to a million other things that just came with the lifestyle he figured. So boss never complained about coming home late and not finding a meal ready for him. Never complained about the fact that neither of them could seem to remember to pick up milk on the way home. Never complained about Abby not spending every walking moment with him because she had a mountain of her own work to do. They just had so many good things that were uniquely them that Boss was never truly bothered by the lack of normal couple things in his life. He didn't necessarily need joint bank accounts or five year investment plans. Boston was happy as long as he could jump backstage after a set and find Abby already there. Maybe that was why the worked or had managed to work so far. They didn't have all those big expectations to meet. Neither of them had any super positive past relationships to base anything on. It took the pressure off a bit, knowing that Abby was probably as clueless as he was at times. So, before the new city or the new label, Boss was getting use to having Abby all to himself so often. Actually getting to enjoy her being there instead of worrying about how much longer it could possibly last. The only thing there was no adjusting to was Abby's sleep schedule. It wasn't that Boss didn't try, he really did. He almost always went to sleep at the same time as Abby even on nights when a show had kept them out late, but his body could never function on the precious few hours of sleep that Abby's seemed to. There was just no predicting when she'd wake up. Which only bothered him because of the mornings Boss would wake to find she was already gone. He caused himself a mini-heart attack each time this happened, not always being able to stop the impulse of jumping out of bed to find her. Usually he tried to just lay really still and listen for the sounds of Abby moving around the apartment while mentally scolding himself for the knee-jerk reaction he could never explain. It wasn't that he expected Abby to leave in the middle of the night or anything. He was just more use to that kind of thing happening than anything else. You could probably call it abandonment issues but mostly Boss was just trying to hold onto the things that really mattered a little more tightly than before. He certainly didn't want to be making the same mistakes twice. Those were just the bad morning though. On the good mornings, he woke up just when Abby did, maybe a minute or two after. But the best morning were the ones when he slept in long enough to make Abby come get him up herself. Without even having to open his eyes to know exactly where she was. Some days, when he woke up and could hear Abby working, he let himself fall back asleep just to try to get her to come to him. It didn't always work. Sometimes Abby was so caught up in whatever she was doing that she didn't notice what Boston happened to be doing. Sometimes he got tired of waiting, deciding to just go pull Abby away from all the electronics she could some how use at one time. Boss only sometimes felt bad for distracting her so often. But the usual rational was that Abby needed to take breaks same as every other person on earth. That made him feel better even if it wasn't always one hundred percent true. He just couldn't help himself. Any free time he had, Boss wanted to be spent on Abby alone. He just never had as many details to worry about, it seemed, as she did. So he constantly felt like he was pestering her simply because he could. Luckily Abby very rarely, if ever, shot him down when he wanted to go do something. After all, they did have the whole of New York at their finger tips. Today just happened to be a great day all on it's own. Boss hadn't woken up enough to remember what day it was or if he was running late for something, let alone even start contemplating how to convince Abby to run off with him again. In fact, Boston hadn't woken up at all, blissfully out cold and could have been for much longer than Abby would deem acceptable. He was obviously picking up on the sleep Abby was missing out on right that second. But if any two things were to stir him back into consciousness, they would be Abby and the idea of breakfast without having to actually get up. Opening his eyes only the smallest crack, Boston couldn't help but smile lazily at the sight of Abby bringing the food right onto the bed. " Mm alright I'm up, I'm up," he said, stretching slowly for minute before finally sitting up some what properly. " How long have you been awake?," he added before taking one of the plates Abby had brought and returning the quick peck on the cheek before leaning back against the wall. That was a question he asked almost every morning, as if keeping track of the times would help some how He never asked with too much seriousness or acting overly concerned. As long as Abby could manage, he would only need his casual interest. Boston didn't waste any time waiting for an answer before he got eating. The more awake he became, the more hungry he started to feel. It was not very often that either of them made an actual meal. If the word "instant" wasn't in the name, odds were Boss didn't know how to make it. He usually opted for take-out the only thing in his life that might count as a splurge. Abby wasn't as bad off as he was, or at least she knew how to make a few simple things that didn't come straight out of a box or can. Which was pretty much master chef level cooking in Boston's eyes. " You're amazing, you know that," he told her in between the giant fork fulls of food he was eating as if someone was going to steal it from him any second. It's actually a miracle he'd got this far in life without choking to death. Boss did slow down a little as he went but only enough to put him at a semi-natural human rate. Had to remind himself that there really was no need to rush. " Are you working today?," Boston asked when the majority of his attention was on Abby again and not the plate in his lap. Boss didn't have many plans for himself for the rest of the day. Unless Abby told him otherwise, he didn't have any band stuff going on or any reason to get everyone together on a day off. If you took all the shows and touring out of his life, it certainly freed up some time.

abby loved that lazy almost crocked smile boss got when he was waking up. it made her stomach and heart beat do weird things. she couldn’t help but smile back at him when he looked that cute. she walked all the way over to the bed and sat down and got under the covers before she handed boss his share of eggs and toast with a fork. he looked like a little kid on christmas when she handed him is food. she loved eating breakfast in bed. it was one of her favorite past times, and it was even better when boss was there. she would usually make breakfast herself and end up eatting it in her room, ir her grandma's. she liked sitting in her room and just remembering the happy times with her. but now was not the time to be thinking of her grandma. now was the time to be sitting with boss and being happy and feeling happy all over. ”how long have you been awake?” abby took a second to process that. even though it seemed like he asked that same question every morning. she looked over at the clock and figured she had been up for a good three hours. maybe more. ”well i got up around seven… and i had to make some business calls… so like three hours, giver or take,” she said with a shrug. abby didn’t mind not being able to sleep. she usually wasn’t tired either. sometimes it made her feel super human. like she could just never sleep and always have energy. it was kind of a beautiful thing. even though she never thought like that when she first started not to sleep. before she saw it as a curse. stuck in a world where she would never be able to sleep more than a couple of hours. they were more like power naps than anything else. even when she was drunk, she took power naps to sober up. actually sleeping for more than like six hours tops was weird for abby.
abby bit into her toast and tried her eggs. she was happy the way they turned out after not making them for so long. "you're amazing, you know that," boss said to her. abby looked over and smiled. she was just so happy he was happy. "yes i do know i am amazing, but it's still nice to hear every once and a while," abby said with a laugh. she could never remember being so at peace with everything.like everything was just going so prefect. but she noticed that she never said those three words. and she wasn't even sure if she could really think them. they were just words, but she had never said them to anyone. at least said it and ment it. those were words you tend to save for a special occasion, or when you were in a normal relationship. but this was more or less the last thing from it. this was the first and probably the last relationship abby was in. she had nothing to reflect back on, no way from learning from past mistakes, and no refrences. she didn't know when to say she loved him. she wasnt even sure if she knew what that felt like. up until now she had just thought that kind of thing would never happen to her. like she would just watch from a distance, what loved looked like. she had tried to swear to herself that she was never going to fall in love. because of her parents, love was just sucide. her mother was abused and cheated on and drunk all the time. all because she was in love. it was a horrable thing and abby thought she didn't want anything to do with it. but boss changed that. at some point abby thought she wanted to fall in love. like she was waiting and waiting and not doing anything to stop it. it was weird. by now, with any other guy, she would be gone. in a different state getting drunk with new people. but she was still there. with boss. living with him. eatting breakfast in bed. this was a new kind of weird.
abby couldn't believe how fast boss was eating. she knew they didn't eat anything that wasn't instant, and basically nothing homemade, but he looked like a dinosaur eatting it's pray. she tried to keep up so she wasn't left with a full palte of food on her plate while he was done. "are you working today?" boss asked. abby had to take a sedon to think about that. she had already made her phone calls, and didn't really have to do anything until tomorrow. she smiled as part of her response. she just wanted to run away with boss for yet another day. she loved exploring wherever he took her. "nope, free as a bird. why, what did you have in mind?" abby asked with a devious smile on her face. she wanted adventure and to go somewhere. or she wanted them to spend the rest of the day in bed having him do away with her body. she would be more than happy with either one. she put her plate on the bedside table and leaned over and kissed him. for some strange reason, she just wanted to feel loved. not that she didn't, but she wanted to feel it more so right now than before. she had been thinking too much this morning already, and she knew that was a bad thing. she knew what usually happened when she started thinking, and it never turned out well for anyone. because she would start this cycling thing that her head liked to do. just thinking about everything and anything. so instead of thinking, she just wanted to feel loved, weather it was with a kiss, or simply holding hadns while they ran away.
