It was one of those late afternoons when Silva had decided to roll out of her bunk. She ran a hand through her dark hair as she stood up at her full five foot three inches. That was without heels though. With heels well, it varied. Sighing to herself she made her way to her dresser, where it had stickers all over it. She had moved to New York, with the rest of the band. Her brother had given her the dresser, next to the trunk covered in Misfit and The Clash stickers, that ended up on the end of her bed. Her punk rocker of a brother gave it to her before she left for tour. She missed him a bit. Poor Ronnie, he was stuck her with her twin brother Dalton. The two were probably happy that they were living in that crappy apartment without her constant complaints about their messes.
She cracked a smile as she shook her head, pulling out a tank top from the trunk and a pair of skinny jeans. She contemplated onflats but took out a pair of heels with zebra stripes that matched her black and white tank top.. Slipping the shirt over head and the jeans over her small legs she headed towards the bathroom, where she applied a little bit of eyeliner, mascara and some cover up. Well, now she wasn't sure of what she was suppose to do. Checking her phone, she sighed, there was nothing, no texts from anyone. Biting her bottom lip, Silva walked into the living room and grabbed her bass, putting in into it's case and grabbing onto the handle and hoisting it up, slipping her arms through the holes, it was like a makeshift backpack. Luckily for Silva, she lived right near the studio.
Locking her apartment and walking down the three flights of stairs because taking the elevator clearly scared the shit out of her. She was out of the building and already heading down the street towards Nemesis. Once she pushed open the revolving door, she nodded at the lady at the desk and headed up to one of the unused studios, where she sat down, took out her bass and notebook and just started playing. This was where her mind was at, completely engrossed into the bass. She was always like that, nothing really broke her concentration. Anything to make her forget reality was welcomed and she often just sat down and play to forget about all her problems. Silva just didn't care if someone were to walk in. She wouldn't notice at all.

Today had been one of those days when Nate just couldn't wait to get up. He didn't know what exactly it was about today but he had the feeling it was going to be a good day. The morning had started off in a particularly high note. He woke up early, seven o' clock sharp. He worked in a lengthy jog through Central Park and a quick spar at the fight studio down the street from his apartment. Both were typical rituals that he performed every chance he got. Today, he felt completely invigorated after the strenuous activities; the feeling only increased after he took a even more rewarding shower. The hot water working away both the layer of sweat from the length exercises this morning and stress he had kept bottled up. The tedious task of songwriting with Phoenix and recording had began to take a toll at one point but were a thing in the past now. Nemesis noticed the stress the band was under and was nice enough to let them off for the day but he was going in today either way. He wanted to at least be productive and test their latest song. He couldn't do it at his apartment as his land lord was strict on noise. Ruffling a hand through his messy hair, Nate had walked out of his bathroom after showering and shaving to get dressed. He threw on the deep purple muscle shirt he had pulled out and shimmied his way into his brand new pair of faded black jeans. Once he was dressed, he crossed the room for his dresser where he had a mirror propped against the wall on top to fix his hair. He easily ruffled in a bit of product to make it somewhat decent. He didn't putting too much effort in it as he wasn't trying to impress anyone today. He was just going in for a couple hours to tweak a few things bothering him with a song or two by himself. Once he had slipped on his leather biker jacket and high-topped grey shoes, Nate grabbed his keys, wallet and guitar case and headed out of his apartment. He paused only for a second to lock the door before caught a quick elevator ride down from the sixth floor of his apartment building. He made sure to wave to the security guard, Marv on his way out before he had set out for Nemesis. The main building was easily three blocks away and he managed to get there without too many people recognizing him. Stepping into the main lobby, he shot a grin to the receptionist and a few waves to a few familiar faces before he headed to the studio he usually used. It wasn't far from the break room but it was far enough away from the main hallways which meant less foot traffic. He walked into the comfortable studio, shrugging his way out of his jacket and tossed it over the back of the office chair he had pulled in the room weeks ago. As he went to set his guitar case down to open it, he realized he wasn't alone. He heard someone playing and they were playing very good. With his case still in hand, he strayed further into the studio and saw a young woman absorbed in her playing. He remembered seeing her around the building once or twice but he had never spoken to her. Not wanting to interrupt her beautiful playing, he leaned against the wall with his case balanced against his thigh and he watched her fingers intently.

The various notes compiled in her own head left as Silva played harder. She knew she would probably have some good blisters left after she was done. If she was really upset sometimes they bled. She had learned the hard way she had to cut her nails. Her brother had taught her to play with her fingers and not with a pick, which most people did. But she wanted a challenge. This lead her thoughts back to her twin. A studio drummer out in California. She worried about Dalton, that he would fall into his old ways. They were both going down the wrong road and she knew who's fault it was. Silva bit down on her bottom lip in concentration as she pushed every thought of her mind. Her eyes casted downward at the bass in her hand. The world could be blowing up around her and she probably wouldn't notice. She picked at the strings carefully, this time playing one of the band's songs. She didn't even try to sing them. Knowing she couldn't reach the range of their vocalist. Silva wondered why they weren't here. She knew that they would want to be recording lately, trying to put out a new album for the fans.
Then again, it wasn't like she kept track of her band mates. Silva was a bit of a loner, recording tracks by herself was something that was pretty common when she was with other bands. It wasn't that she was upset she had to record with the band either instead of doing her own thing. She knew she had to learn sometime, but these were one of the little moments where she could completely let go and write whatever she wanted to present to them. They usually loved whatever she had written for them, even though she felt like they did that so they didn't hurt her feelings. It was obvious that someone else was in the room, she felt it, but didn't stop playing. If they wanted the studio they would simply interrupt her and either till then or when her hands got tired, she wasn't going to stop. Any sort of stress that she had built up over the past few days just flowed into her fingertips to the strings till she felt completely relaxed and at ease. Her shoulders had lost all of the tension they usually had and she was sitting back in the chair instead of leaning forward.
Within a few minutes of ending a song in her head she stopped. Sil moved her fingers around, stretching them out as she placed the bass beside her and cracked her knuckles, inspecting her fingertips which were hard with callouses. It only took a few minutes to look up and see someone else was in fact in the room. She was startled a little, seeing someone just standing there. "Oh!" she exclaimed softly as she ran a hand through her dark hair, blinking for a moment, she really had no idea what to say but when did she? She looked the male over, he was leaning up against the wall. "Sorry, I didn't check if anyone else was using the place. I can leave." She said, her Irish accent which she could never shake, blurring her words together a bit as she spoke quickly. She had grabbed her bass and was starting to pack up, figuring she better let the guy use the studio. It would be rude just to take studio time away from someone else.

When her song came to an end, Nate was left wanting to hear more. It had been a long time since he heard someone play bass so well. He hadn't even realized she was looking at him until he snapped out of thought. He could see that he had startled her. When she spoke, he smiled politely at her and straightened up from the wall he had been leaned on. "Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you," He said, his New York accent notable but not nearly as thick as hers. He pivoted a heel, watching her hurriedly begin to back up her things. She was actually going to leave? He didn't mind having company actually. Straying closer to where she stood, he sat down his guitar case on the desk and opened it. "It's quite alright, really. I don't mind the company. There's plenty of space for two," He said gesturing openly to the large studio before distracting himself with pulling the curved black and white Les Paul from its case gently. "My name is Nate, by the way and you are?" He asked, his sharp blue eyes flickering to meet hers for a short moment before he looked away to set the guitar on the desk and went about grabbing the notepad filled with song ideas and improvised sheet music out of the case. "I've seen you around but never really had a chance to introduce myself to you," He said chuckling as he settled down on the office chair and rummaged through the drawers for a pen or pencil. "Who do you play with?" He continued, feeling particularly chatty today for some reason. He didn't realized that he hadn't had a proper conversation with anyone in awhile until just now. Looking back up at her, he waited for her response with an intrigued expression crossing his features.

Silva felt sort of embarrssed. She really never liked the fact that she could get lost and not notice someone else there. Well, it was nice sometimes but other times she worried about it. She didn't know why, but in Sil's head it all made sense even when it shouldn't have. She bit the inside of her cheek, a habit she picked up when she was aching for more drugs, it kept her mind off of things, kept her calm. She often got nervous around strangers, but that's how she always was. Thinking that everything she did could set someone off."That's fine, I'm pretty easy to startle" She spoke with soft tones, hell. Most of the time it was hard to hear Silva speak because she never really raised her voice.
She closed up her song book, wrapping the elastic band around it that kept the loose pages from flying out. The thing was filled with more ideas that she got from just sitting with her bass. She still played the one her brother got for her. The Fender standard Rosewood Jazz bass. It was in the window of a pawn shop in Indiana and he had gotten it for her. She hadn't stopped playing it since. She stopped packing as he spoke. She wasn't exactly sure about it. But she sat back down slowly. If he didn't mind then she would probably stay."Thanks, it's pretty hard to get peace and quiet around my apartment." She said as she brought the bass back onto her lap. "I'm Silva." She introduced herself, not knowing what else to really say after that.

Nate could see that she was embarrassed even if she were trying to be discrete about it. He had the feeling she was because of how absorbed she became when she played and he didn't understand why. Being absorbed into the music you play was nothing to be embarrassed about. He did it. Their bassist did it. Even Fee did it. Everyone did it. As he studied for a moment, he could see her biting the inside of her cheek. Nervous. He understood that. He was a stranger. An older stranger at that and they were in this room alone. Of course, he wouldn't do anything to her but she didn't know that. He understood why she was being standoffish none of the less. "It's my fault really. I should have made my presence known, rather than standing there and scaring the wits out of you," He chuckled, tapping his pen on the desk in front of him. As she continued to pack up, he noticed her notebook that was overflowing with loose sheets of paper. All of which from what he could tell were notes and music related. Her notebook was a reminder to him that he had been procrastinating from working on their new songs. Fee and their bassist already had their parts done but he still had yet to finish. "You're quite welcome. Heh, I can't play at home because of my land lord," He said with a small humorless laugh as he shook his head. Hearing her name, however, his head snapped up and back to her. He knew who she was now. "Silva from Buffy Staked Edward, right?" He asked leaning forward on his elbows sitting on the desk.

Silva's mind traveled elsewhere, it was hard for someone like her to pay attention. Her thoughts always went somewhere else and she couldn't really stick to paying attention. She knew that she must of seem a bit weird, but that was probably because the guy was a stranger, well, in a sense he was. Silva's anxiety disorder was probably to blame for that. She would probably have to start taking her medication now if stuff like meeting a new person got her nervous and tense. She shrugged her shoulders. "No, I should be more aware of my surroundings. I'm pretty good at blocking out the world." She smiled at him softly as she shook the bangs from her eyes and picked at the bass strings slowly, trying to figure out something for conversation. It would of been nice if Silva could keep a conversation going, but that wasn't going to happen. Stuff like this never really happened unless the other person just spoke for her and she nodded her head. Some thought she wasn't paying attention but she was, she just never knew what to say.
She smiled and tore a loose thread from her shirt, rolling it between her fingers till it dropped to the floor. "I wish my landlord would let me play too. I mean, she's probably too old to hear. It's the couple in the next room who are always fighting and the guy who blasts his heavy death metal on top and the one who blasts his rap on the bottom. It's hard and my band mates are usually in and out, eating my food or something." She probably spoke more in that few sentences then the last. It was true about her band mates. The guys anyway, they ate like gorillas or something. Just coming in and taking all her food. It wasn't fair but she never said anything and they always paid her back and that's what certainly mattered to her because if they didn't she'd probably say something. She nodded her head, causing her bangs to fall into her eyes again. "Yep, that would be my band." She nodded as she looked him over again. Suddenly the name of his band popping into her head like a firework. "Wait, you're in Jack's Smirking Revenge right?" Hoping she had gotten the band name right, if she didn't she probably looked like a total idiot.

Nate occupied himself with his guitar instead. He brought it into his lap, scooting a bit way from the desk to accommodate the new addition and began to retune it slightly. He had the feeling that him watching her so closely was just adding to making her nervous and even more embarrassed. As he began to strum without the aid of a pick, his eyes dropped to the floor as he tapped his foot along to the tune. "I think everyone does it. Music has the effect on people, I guess. I get lost in it just like you do. Sometimes, I don't really snap out of it until someone shakes me out of it," He said laughing as his own smile curled on his lips. His body swaying slightly as he reached the chorus of the song. "Ah, my land lord despises any kind of noise really." He said noticing she had spoken more than last time and his responses has grown shorter since he had started playing. He hated his land lord. He was rude, nasty and tried to rule over the tenants with an iron fist. If it wasn't for the fact that the apartment building was the nicest on the block and close to Nemesis, he would have moved ages ago. "I knew you looked familiar," He glanced briefly at her with a small smile as he neared the end of the song. "Yeah, I'm the guitarist for JSR. Been with them since the beginning," He said as he stopped his playing.

Music and drugs and drawing had the lost in reality effect on Silva even though Silva had quit drugs after her and Dalton almost overdosed together and almost got sent to rehab. She knew she had to stick with drawing and bass and she knew that comforted her brother I'm every way because he worried about her being alone. She was only nineteen with the guidance of only her band mates in a big city. Then again, she and Dalton were also abandoned by their mom for a year before they called Ronnie. She knew had to take care of herself. She could only guess he was worried because Dalton wasn't there. "You're right. I would think that if a land mine went off near me when I'm playing I probably wouldn't notice. I guess music is one of the only things that takes me out of reality though and I like being in my own mind a lot." Silva lifted the bass up slightly to cross one leg over another then balanced it back again, sitting back in the comfy chair that the studio had provided. She had to admit she liked Nemesis studios more than any of the other ones she had been on. Numerous bands she was with have been signed but Then Buffy Had Staked Edward was probably her proudest accomplishment. The members and the music meshed well and she just had fun doing it. She guessed that's what mattered the most. Silva wrinkled her nose at the landlord comment. " When I use to live in Indiana with my brothers the landlord of our apartment use to come and jam with us. It was fun. Most landlords should be like that" she smiled a little at the memories and continued to pick at the strings absentmindedly.
Silva nodded again. " I've noticed you around. Just really didn't figure out who you were till now." she said, she left out that she didn't really like talking to people who didn't talk to her. She didn't want to seem like some paranoid yuppie. " Yeah I've been with TBSE since the beginning to. Probably one of the only bands I happen to be proud of give I've been in my fair share. But this one just feels right. " well that was the truth.
